Its National Man Day!

June 15th, 2009

man-day2My good friend Andy published a Tweet about this…I felt obliged to share it with all of you (all 5 of you).  Apparently its National Man Day Today.  I propose we all go out and do something manly, like change the oil in your car, or chop wood, or watch a baseball game and drink a beer on the couch.  Men, lets stand up and celebrate this day!  Try to avoid the fact that’s also natinoal “Sneak a Kiss Day”

What’s luck got to do with it?

What's luck got to do with it?

I was walking over the Farmer Market Saturday morning and casually recapping the week in my head. I was fortunate to meet a pretty good group of students from the University of Montana Business School, Yes…The Harvard of the West.  The class is something that is relatively new as it’s only in its third year.  The class comes out to the Portland and Seattle and meets with various different businesses that have alumni from the University working for them or owns them.  The class is basically one big networking event for the students to get insights into what it takes to work for of these companies (2 of them are on the100 best companies to work for list).  As I was headed over to the market I got to thinking about luck…to be more specific how much luck really had to do with your success.   Read more…

“When Brilliance Hits a Slump”

June 14th, 2009

Anybody that has known me for more than five minutes knows I LOVE the Boston Red Sox.  The Red Sox’s are top to bottom one of the best organizations around.  That’s why I pretty much cry when ever I see Big Papi, A.K.A David Ortiz step up to the plate.  If you even remotely follow baseball or watch Sports Center you know that Big Papi is one hell of a slump.  I felt even worse last year watching my beloved Jason Varitek, the Red Sox catcher, in his slump.  While doing my usual Saturday morning ritual of coffee, iPod, and the Wall Street Journal, I came across a great article on Papi in the WSJ.  It’s extremely well written and paints a great picture of Papi’s hitting slump, as well as some people views on what a slump really is.  Regardless if you’re a fan of the Red Sox or not I’d recommend reading it.  Here is the LINK

Viva la Boston!!!

The Sunday Times

June 7th, 2009

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I really like the New York Times, and really really like one specific column that is in the business section every Sunday.  Corner office is the name of the column, I’d recommend reading this weeks.  Here is the Link.
