Anybody that has known me for more than five minutes knows I LOVE the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox’s are top to bottom one of the best organizations around. That’s why I pretty much cry when ever I see Big Papi, A.K.A David Ortiz step up to the plate. If you even remotely follow baseball or watch Sports Center you know that Big Papi is one hell of a slump. I felt even worse last year watching my beloved Jason Varitek, the Red Sox catcher, in his slump. While doing my usual Saturday morning ritual of coffee, iPod, and the Wall Street Journal, I came across a great article on Papi in the WSJ. It’s extremely well written and paints a great picture of Papi’s hitting slump, as well as some people views on what a slump really is. Regardless if you’re a fan of the Red Sox or not I’d recommend reading it. Here is the LINK

It’s been so long since I’ve posted I’ve almost forgot how my blog works. Work has been beyond busy, almost to the point where working a few hours on Saturday seems normal. I think it goes without saying that I’d rather not get into that habit, however I’ve been working on some pretty cool projects lately that I think will really start to move our organization in a different direction and how we do business with our customers. Ok, enough about work. I’ve obviously been busy lately, but here is a quick sampling of what I’ve been up to… Read more…
Boston Red Sox, Misc
Ok for those fortunate 3 people who read my blog, this will be my last Red Sox post until spring training (unless Theo does something I deem worth blogging about). We, and when I say we I mean the brain trust of the Red Sox which I feel I’m a virtual member of, signed Jason Varitek to a one year $5m deal on Friday. The sox brass are going to continue to look for the next younger version of Tek, but until then we’ve got the best in game manager in the MLB calling the shots for the 2009 season…needless to say i’m very happy about this.
Boston Red Sox
It appears that Jason Varitek and Boston Red Sox are closing in on signing the Captain catcher. This is great news as it would bring veteran leadership behind the plate and help cement the pitching that Theo and Co. bolstered in the off season…this is great new! Here is a link to Tony Massarotti of the Boston Globe about that latest dialog. Boston Globe
Boston Red Sox
I am a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox. I don’t hide it. In fact I’ve been known to shout out in crowed bars, street corners, and in one case a catholic church…”Viva la Boston”!!! when ever I see something denotes a success on behalf of the Red Sox.
A quick history. Most people ask me how I, a kid who was raised on a horse ranch in Montana, became a fan of the Boston Red Sox. Well to be honest I grew up a fan of the Minnesota Twins. My father, brother and I would attended generally one game a summer when we visited my dad in South Dakota growing up. The Metro Dome was a mere 4 hours north. Then came the strike in the 90’s and I immediately became an avid hater of MLB. However, in most cases i believe in second chances…then came McGwire and Sosa and the race for 61, so said lets let by gone’s be by gone’s. But by that point the Twins had started complaining about wanting a new stadium (which they still play in today) and I for a short time became a fan of the Seattle Mariners…Jay Buhner is still one of my top 3 favorite players. Then i saw the Sox. A gritty, blue color, “I don’t care what you think of me”, Yankee hating team. I thought to myself “this is my kind of team” The rest is history. Check out the video which I think truly epitomized the Sox/Yankees rivalry. Read more…
